Being outdoors and creating areas for people to experience nature is my passion. Our landscapes can all be adapted by our creative abilities to surround us in beauty and function. Through gardening in my own back yard, I became interested in landscaping. While working as a landscaping gardener, I became aware of the chemicals being used on our lawns and in our yards. Feeling this treatment of our soils is unnecessary, I started an organic landcare business, Organic Garden Design.
Continuing my interest in husbanding the soil, I have taken on the running of a 575 tree apple orchard. An additional crop is native woodland medicinal herbs.
The plants are grown to have people replant them in the wooded shady areas. The goal is to repopulate our woodland edges and woods in general with the native understory part of the ecosystem. At the same time planting these perennials creates "good carbon sequestering points"
